I'm a Level 2 CrossFit Coach, a husband and a father. I feel extremely blessed to be able to share my passion of CrossFit with others. I get to teach CrossFit to trainers all over the world as a CFHQ trainer. I work Level 1 Seminars, Olympic Weightlifting Seminars, and Coaches Prep Courses. I am also the Regional Competition Director for the CrossFit Games NorCal Region. I have over 14 years of coaching experience and have been invovled in organized sports my entire life.
I first heard of CrossFit in 2002 from my mother who came across the website while searching for nutrition information. I was a trainer though and wasn't interested in another fitness trend that would just end up fizzling away. I didn't feel like I needed anything new, so I kept training with my traditional commercial gym program. As much as I turned my back on CF, it kept resurfacing in different ways at least once a month for years. Looking back, it is so obvious I was meant to do this.
I was in the gym back in 2006 and a CF discussion popped up on an online fitness forum. I was bored of my same old routine (you know the classic.... back&bi's/chest&tri's/legs&shoulders/cardio&abs) and CF was there to take advantage of my lack of interest in my current fitness plan. I did my first CF workout that day. It took me just 15 minutes. I was lying on the floor wondering how it was possible for a 15 minute workout to this to me. I was a fitness professional and thought I was pretty fit. I knew instantly CrossFit would forever change the fitness industry. I started studying the CF journal and all the free videos I could find on crossfit.com. "Foundations" written by Greg Glassman was and still is the most revolutionary fitness article I have read. I had to meet this coach and signed up to go to a seminar. I got my level 1 certificate in Feburary 2007. It was a life changing experience in many ways. Since then I have been on a never-ending quest to improve my knowledge as a CF coach and share it with others.
CrossFit has brought true "functional fitness" to the masses and I am proud to be a part of this movement. Whether you want to compete in the CrossFit Games, train for a sport or event, change your body composition, or simply live a life physically capable of doing whatever you want well into your silver years, I can help. I am proud to say that CrossFit Milpitas is not just a gym but a solid community of people who help each other improve on a daily basis. Come check us out!
"Austin's ability to effectively teach & improve simple & complex movements gave me the edge I needed to win the CrossFit Games. His creative approach to programming is top notch." - Jason Khalipa - CF Games Champion, 2008 / 5th place, 2009 / 16th place, 2010 / 7th place, 2011 / 5th place, 2012

Why Coaching? Becoming a coach was a natural progression for me because I like to help people realize their potential. Teaching movements and classes is fun because you can see people pushing themselves to their limits and improving on a daily basis. The thing I take most pleasure in is when someone has that "ahhh" moment when they are attempting a new movement or trying to add a skill to their arsenal and after practice and perseverance they hit it right and all the cues/ descriptions/ analogies/ encouragement/ yelling from me makes sense and pays off.

I am a level 1 crossfit trainer and have been active in the fitness industry for over 10 years. I play basketball on a regular basis, and enjoy various other sports. Crossfit to me is not just a way of working out, but a way of achieving optimal fitness with people who are just like you. Blood, sweat, and tears is something we share as a whole, on a daily basis. The relationship I have with my athletes is nothing a "regular gym" can give you, this place is my second family, and second home.

I was a competitive gymnast for 10 years which lead to my introduction into Crossfit. After playing collegiate Volleyball and running Track I was at a loss of what to do and after being shown the original “Nasty Girls” video I knew I had to try it. Everyone says you’ll never forget your first workout, and in 2008 after my first “Wod” I was hooked. I’ve been coaching gymnastics for 14 years and coaching is my passion. I am Level 1 Certified Trainer as well as Crossfit Kids Certified and I’m thankful for the opportunity to share my love of Crossfit with others. I am passionate about Crossfit and believe that it is a program that has the ability to improve lives both inside and outside of the gym. No matter what your background is Crossfit will help you to become stronger and healthier than you ever thought possible. My background in sports has helped me to become a better coach and I love helping others reach their potential.

I did my very first CrossFit workout in early 2008 and was beat up and scared to come back. After a few months, I mustered up the courage and signed up in August 2008. I absolutely love it and I haven't looked back since! Before CrossFit, I played basketball and was a competitive swimmer. I am a Level 1, Mobility, and CrossFit Kids Certified Trainer. I am also a competitve swimming coach. I enjoy working with kids and adults, coaching them to push through the workouts and reaching their goals. What I love most about coaching is changing someone's life towards a healthier and active future!

My first CrossFit W.O.D was a Deadlift Burpee couplet and at the time those were two movements I have never done my life. By the end of the workout I was seeing stars and fighting the urge to throw up all over the gym floor. I immediately realized that I was not going to get fit doing traditional commercial gym. Fast forward a year after starting CrossFit and I've increased my strength, my stamina, and my gymnastics to feats I couldn’t have imagine possible. In High School I was a Swim Team, Water Polo team, and Golf Team neither of these sports could have gotten me into the shape I am in today.
I graduated with a bachelors degree in Biology from the University of San Francisco. I am currently applying to physical therapy schools and hope to one day incorporate my passion of Physical therapy into CrossFit. I also am a Swim Coach for the Milpitas Tidal waves and a Level 1 Trainer.
I absolutely believe that doing constantly varied high intensity functional movements on a daily basis is an essential part of health. I coach because I believe CrossFit is fun and an effective way to improve fitness.
